THE INNOVATION WEEK 2023 IS COMING!
The Innovation Week (Semana de Inovação, in Portuguese) brings together leading experts in the field to promote discussions and exchange experiences on initiatives using technologies, methodologies, and processes to improve the Brazilian public service. This year, the event reaches its ninth edition and will be held in the second week of November. It is organized by the Brazilian National School of Public Administration (Escola Nacional de Administração Pública - Enap), the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (Tribunal de Contas da União -TCU), the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso), and the Brazilian Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (Ministério da Gestão e Inovação em Serviços Públicos - MGI).
The Innovation Week (SI) brings together the main specialists in the sector to promote debates and exchange of experiences on initiatives for the use of technologies, methodologies and processes to improve the Brazilian public service. This year the event reaches its ninth edition and will be held in the second week of November. It is organized by the National School of Public Administration (Enap), the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso) and the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI).

The Innovation Week has become a reference for the debate on the role of innovation and transformation in the public sector. In 2023, we will promote connections between theorists, strategic leaders, the community of innovators and society for a more democratic, inclusive and sustainable innovation.
Consolidated as the largest public innovation event in Latin America, the Innovation Week will take place between the 7th and 9th of November. In a free and hybrid format, the ninth edition was specially designed to ensure the best experience for participants.

The event will take place in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. Whether in person or in virtual activities, the event will create the conditions for deep exchanges between the participants and the speakers.
The event is held jointly by important public bodies and partners: the National School of Public Administration (Enap), the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso), the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), through the Serzedello Corrêa Institute (ISC) and the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI).

Celso Athayde was born in Baixada Fluminense and raised in Favela do Sapo, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. He is a Brazilian entrepreneur, event producer, writer, and social activist specializing in favelas and marginalized communities. He founded the Central Única das Favelas (CUFA), a social organization present in five thousand favelas across the country, and Favela Holding, a group of more than 20 companies whose central objective is the development of favelas and their residents, particularly by promoting entrepreneurship in these territories. In 2022, Celso received the Impact and Innovation Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the World Economic Forum, receiving the honor in Davos, at the Forum's headquarters in Switzerland. He is the author of seven books, three of which are bestsellers.
Steven Pinker is a psychologist, popular science writer, and highly sought-after provocative speaker. He is a cognitive scientist who has been named by TIME magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. His lectures have helped millions demystify the science behind language, thought, and human action. Pinker is a professor at Harvard, a TED speaker, and a bestselling author, twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Highly respected in the scientific community, his work and opinions are widely disseminated in the mainstream media and have gained a broad general audience. In his latest book, "Rationality: What It Is, Why It Seems Scarce, Why It Matters," Pinker argues that we have failed to take advantage of the most powerful tools of reasoning discovered by some of our best thinkers: logic, critical thinking, probability, correlation, and causality.
In 1978, Dr. Anna Fisher was part of the first group of six women selected to become female astronauts at NASA. She is a medical doctor specializing in emergency medicine and also holds a degree in Chemistry. She was married to astronaut Bill Fisher. Fisher is a mother of two daughters and in 1984 became the first mother to go to space. Throughout her career at NASA, she participated in the Space Shuttle program, the International Space Station, and the Orion capsule, which is being developed by NASA for future space exploration. From 1996 to 2002, Dr. Fisher led the initial phase of the construction of the International Space Station (ISS). Dr. Fisher also managed the development of monitors for the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV). In 2017, she retired from NASA at the age of 67.

Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan singer and songwriter with a long professional career in music. His work has been nominated for several awards and he won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2005 with his song "Al otro lado del río". Trained as a medical doctor, in 1995 he decided to move from Uruguay to Spain to dedicate himself to music. He has released over 10 albums, with his most recent one being "Salvavidas de hielo" (2017), which won the award for Best Singer-Songwriter Album at the Latin Grammy Awards. In the same year, Drexler also won the awards for Best Song and Record of the Year.
Oded Galor, an Israeli-American economist, holds honorary doctorates from UC Louvain and Poznan University of Economics & Business. As a researcher and editor-in-chief of economic journals, he is the founder of the Unified Growth Theory, which delineates the process of growth throughout human existence, highlighting the critical role of the differential transition from Malthusian stagnation to economic growth based on the emergence of inequalities between countries and regions.
David Friedman is a writer and professor with degrees in physics and chemistry from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Chicago, although he is primarily known for his work in political and economic theory. He is currently a law professor at Santa Clara University.
Debora Garofalo was the first Brazilian and South American woman to be a finalist for the Global Teacher Prize, considered the Nobel Prize of education, and for the IV Malala Trophy in the innovation category in 2020. Debora is among the top 10 teachers in the world. She is the creator of the internationally recognized robotics work with scrap materials and implemented the first innovation center for basic education in São Paulo. She works as a guest university professor at the MBA USP Esalq/Pecege and as a consultant on technology and innovation applied to public policies.
Mariana Mazzucato is an author, Professor of the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London (UCL), and Founding Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP). Mazzucato has won several international awards and is featured on important lists as one of the leading voices in innovation and thinkers on the future of capitalism. She advises policymakers worldwide on inclusive and sustainable growth driven by innovation.
Yuval Noah Harari is a historian, philosopher, and author of the best-selling books "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind," "Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow," "21 Lessons for the 21st Century," and the comic book series "Sapiens: The Graphic History." His books have sold 40 million copies in 65 languages, and he is considered one of the most influential intellectuals in the world.
Jimmy Wales is a futurist and technology leader, and one of the prominent figures in Internet history. He is the founder of Wikipedia and WT.Social, and has been listed as one of TIME magazine's 100 most influential people and a leader at the World Economic Forum.
Jared Diamond is a professor of Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles. He began his scientific career in physiology and expanded into evolutionary biology and biogeography. He has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society. Diamond has won several awards and has published over six hundred articles. His book "Guns, Germs, and Steel" received the Pulitzer Prize.

Oded Galor, economista israelense-americano, é doutor Honoris Causa da UC Louvain e da Poznan University of Economics & Business. Pesquisador e editor-chefe de jornais da área econômica, ele é o fundador da Teoria do Crescimento Unificado que faz um recorte do processo de crescimento ao longo da existência humana, destacando o papel crítico do momento diferencial de transição da estagnação malthusiana para o crescimento econômico baseado no surgimento das desigualdades entre países e regiões.
